    Fight The Summer Cold

We’ve noticed around the office in the past few weeks that colds and flu’s seem to be spreading like wildfire. It always seems when the seasons change, virus’s begin to make their way around, infecting everyone in their path.

Many people have their own theories as to how or why this happens. Some say that with the warm weather and the use of air conditioners, the shock of temperature change going in and out of buildings and stores cause people to get sick.

Others blame their sniffles and sneezes on allergies, even if they’ve never been tested or diagnosed for such a health ailment.

Whatever the reason, there are a few things you can do to help protect yourself from the infamous ‘summer cold’. Aside from the obvious; frequently washing your hands, covering your mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing and taking your vitamins, you can also use your daily diet as an immune boost to ward of illness.

When the nice weather hits, it’s easy to ignore your diet. Swapping cooking time in the kitchen for outdoor time in the backyard…and picking up a burger and fries at the drive thru for dinner.

An important thing to remember is though convenience foods save you time, they’re generally not beneficial to your health and in turn offer little to no nutrients for your immune system.

In order to help you combat the ‘summer cold’ it is important to consume the appropriate amount of food items from each of the food groups as recommended by the Canadian Food Guide.

Orderit.ca is a great tool to use as it allows you to order ‘real food from real restaurants’. Rather than throwing down a trans-fat filled burger and fries, why not order a delicious pasta with fresh vegetables and chicken, or perhaps a large salad with all the fixings! This summer instead of forfeiting nutrition for convenience, use Orderit.ca to order yourself a healthy meal from a great restaurant and still save yourself time!

Check out www.orderit.ca for menu guides to great restaurants around the city that can be delivered straight to your door!
